Learn to Dance

Friendly dance classes that treat you as an individual rather than just one of the crowd. At Jivebeat the emphasis is on you learning to dance your way, with one-to-one help available after every class and a modern teaching style that keeps the fun in learning, whatever your dancing experience.

All our classes are drop-in classes, with no courses to book or specific days that you have to start. Jivebeat LeRoc (modern jive) and Argentine Tango classes always start with the basics, then we add in something more detailed or challenging for anyone with a bit more experience to work with.

Give it a go!

But don't take our word for it, give it a go and see for yourself what has made partner dancing such a huge phenomenon. A Jivebeat evening is as much a social event as it is a dance class, so come with friends and make an evening of it, or come on your own and make new friends when you get there. There is no need to book, just come along, join the fun, and learn to dance! You don't even have to bring a partner!

Event Diary

Fri 25th May: Sevenoaks Community Centre, Sevenoaks

Closed - Team are away

We are closed tonight as we are providing PA and lighting for this weekend's England International Tango Festival in Tonbridge, and we will already be down there setting everything up. But we won't be shut for long. Classes start again next week.

See you in Tonbridge!

Wed 30th May: Stanley Halls, South Norwood

X-Tango Alternative Milonga

No tandas... no traditions... just dance!

Graham Guy will be DJ for the night, so you can expect his usual mix of modern music for tango, including blues, electrotango, rock, electronica, and much more.

  • 7.45pm - Doors Open
  • 8.00pm - Warm-up Argentine Tango class, including "get you started" for new dancers
  • 8.30pm - X-Tango Alternative Milonga
  • 11.00pm - Close

Our X-Tango Milongas are all about having fun with tango, about the pure enjoyment of this versatile dance style without all the traditions and expectations of a classic milonga. If we play a track that inspires you to dance ballroom or jive rather than tango then just do it... there are no 'rules' at X-Tango that say you can only dance the one style! Ladies... ask the men for dances. Men... find someone you've never asked to dance before and ask them. Dance to music you wouldn't normally choose. Try something new!
